Obituary

Obituary for David L. Bowers

David L. Bowers, 65, of Kearneysville, WV, born February 21, 1955 in Martinsburg, WV unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord on July 27, 2020 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary L. Bowers, and their two children, Stacie A. Wilt and husband Stephen E. Wilt of Falling Waters, WV, and Joel S. Bowers and wife Heather M. Bowers of Martinsburg, WV. Seven grandchildren, all of whom Dave loved dearly, Brittany N. Wilt of Ashland, KY, Michael E. Wilt, Kyle E. Wilt both of Kearneysville, WV, Ethan S. Bowers, Zachary L. Bowers, Alex R. Bowers and Adley G. Bowers all of Martinsburg, WV. Also, his buddy Bailey, his very spoiled cocker spaniel. In addition, Dave is survived by his father, Terry W. Bowers of Hospice of the Panhandle, and his two brothers, Ronnie Bowers of Chesapeake, VA and Max Bowers of Martinsburg, WV, and Aunt Shirley Mose of Ranson, WV, a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Delores A. Bowers in 2002, and father-in-law Bernard Duckworth in 2000.

Dave served in the US Army, stationed in W. Berlin, Germany from September 1973 to September 1976.
After leaving the service he worked for the local phone company as a Lineman, and a Cable-Splicer for a few years before moving into the Lineman position again. Dave loved being a Lineman, he retired at the end of December 2017 after 41 plus years.

Dave was a gentle Godly man, the absolute greatest loving husband, a wonderful father and an awesome granddaddy. Dave adored his wife, children and grandchildren. He was active in all of their lives and activities, always being there to support them and cheer them on. Dave was a mentor and role model to many younger husbands and fathers. He has touched many lives through caring for others, sharing how to have happy and healthy relationships inside and outside the home. Dave was a member of Heritage Free Will Baptist Church, Inwood, WV serving as Deacon and many other capacities in and outside the church. He and his wife Mary led the Heritage Youth Praise Team for a number of years. He loved to serve others alongside his wife Mary as they shared every aspect of their life and faith together as one. Dave had a beautiful voice, and with Mary, they sang in the worship team leading the congregation in worship every Sunday.

Dave will be forever missed, he was such a special man.
