Dave served in the US Army, stationed in W. Berlin, Germany from September 1973 to September 1976.
After leaving the service he worked for the local phone company as a Lineman, and a Cable-Splicer for a few years before moving into the Lineman position again. Dave loved being a Lineman, he retired at the end of December 2017 after 41 plus years.

Dave was a gentle Godly man, the absolute greatest loving husband, a wonderful father and an awesome granddaddy. Dave adored his wife, children and grandchildren. He was active in all of their lives and activities, always being there to support them and cheer them on. Dave was a mentor and role model to many younger husbands and fathers. He has touched many lives through caring for others, sharing how to have happy and healthy relationships inside and outside the home. Dave was a member of Heritage Free Will Baptist Church, Inwood, WV serving as Deacon and many other capacities in and outside the church. He and his wife Mary led the Heritage Youth Praise Team for a number of years. He loved to serve others alongside his wife Mary as they shared every aspect of their life and faith together as one. Dave had a beautiful voice, and with Mary, they sang in the worship team leading the congregation in worship every Sunday.

Dave will be forever missed, he was such a special man.
