Obituary for Herbert Allen Jenkins Jr.

Herbert Allen Jenkins Jr., 68, of Middleway met God on Wednesday, September 30, 2020.
Born March 20, 1952 in Front Royal, VA; he was the eldest child of the late Herbert Allen Jenkins Sr. and Madelyn Stump.

He is loved by his wife Karen Turner Jenkins; two daughters Emily Jenkins and Brandy Sullivan; one grandson Ryder Sullivan; and six younger siblings.

Known as Allen to those who knew him, and "Grizzly" to those he drove with. Allen was a truck driver for Ryder/PIE and later for the Martin Brower Company out of Manassas VA. He was always the loudest truck returning to the yard and enjoyed being the driver who could get into any store for delivery. It was through his work he met Karen who worked in the shop and set out to convince her he should take her out.

Allen's sense of humor and positive outlook were infectious and now bring comfort to his loved ones. He laughed easily and it was hearty and filled a room. He could "talk to anyone, about anything, for any length of time". Allen's selflessness touched many- he would give you the shirt off his back. Even during vacations his family recalls him fixing cars of fellow campers, always the type of man to do what he could.

Allen leaves a legacy with the core of family. He was a loyal, caring, hardworking father. When he spoke of his wife, daughters, and grandson he beamed with pride. He felt that nothing came before family, but for him family was defined by the ones you love, not just the ones who share blood. He was a great man and a good friend. Allen was known for having the biggest heart and it's love will be felt throughout the lives of those he loved.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in his name to Shriners Hospital for Children.
