Obituary for James Moellenkamp

James Moellenkamp, 71, of Martinsburg, was called home to his eternal reward September 21, 2020.

Jimmy was born November 19, 1948 in Oldsmar, Fl, to parents; Marty and Mary Moellenkamp. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons Chuck and Rick, daughter Troylene, great-granddaughter Lydia and 8 of his siblings. He is survived by his wife Heather, daughter Connie and husband Ron, son Willie and wife Melanie, son Charles and wife Kelly, son Jimbo and wife Stephanie, daughter Kristal and daughter Jeannie and husband Mike. One brother, Dale and one sister, Anita. 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.

In a time when it wasn’t popular Jimmy proudly put on a uniform and served as a Marine in Vietnam, ultimately reaching the rank of Sergeant. After serving his country Jimmy worked various jobs but most of his working years were spent trucking, he loved the open road and the experience of seeing the beauty of this great nation through the windshield of his rig.

Jimmy lived a simple life, he loved photographs, listening to country music, watching country music videos and fishing the little creeks near his home. Anyone that met him would quickly realize his most treasured possession was his family. He was proud to be a husband, daddy and pawpaw. If you talked to him for any length of time the conversation would eventually move to a story about his family and most likely include pictures. Family brought joy to Jimmy and when he’d see them the first thing he did was give a hug and plant a big ole kiss on their cheek!! He enjoyed every opportunity to visit with his family weather immediate or distant.

Jimmy left a legacy that will live on for generations and will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
