Obituary for Janet Carole Deter

Janet Carole Deter, 74, of Martinsburg passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at her residence.

Born August 4, 1946 in Cumberland, MD she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Edith Mae Malcolm O’Baker.

She was a volunteer bookkeeper at C-CAP. She also worked at Dr. Pathoff office, Flowers flooring, Sears Roebuck, Kelly Real Estate, GM Food Service, and Kelly Springfield Tire Company. She was a faithful member of Otterbein United Methodist Church for 43 years, member of the choir, Christian P. Newcomer class, and was church secretary and youth leader.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Anthony Deter; three daughters, Michelle R. Pevarnik, Brenda C. Hough, and Sheri LeMae Davis; four grandchildren, Samantha LeMae Deter, Trevor M. Davis, Alexis D. Hough, and Allison R. Pevarnik; two great-grandchildren, Keegan M. Burton and Braelyn Nevaeh Burton; two brothers, Clyde E. O’Baker and John W. O’Baker and wife, Bonnie; and one sister, Judy Athey and husband, Danny.

The Brown Funeral Home will be open for family to receive friends only from the hours of 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. Visitors will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Wayne Clark officiating.

Interment will be in Davis Memorial Cemetery in Cumberland, MD at 2:00 PM.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Hospice and Berkeley Senior Service for their professional and loving care for Janet as she made her final journey to be with her mom and dad.
