Kenneth Scott “Kenny” Given, 78, from Gasssaway and Martinsburg, WV passed away peacefully after a short illness on Thursday, September 24, 2020.
He was born January 6, 1942 in Dille, WV and was the son of the late Forrest Norman “Red” Given and Phala Marie “Peg” Dean Given.
Kenny graduated from Richwood High School in 1958 at the age of 16 and attended Glenville State College. He married Linda on April 16, 1966 and from 1966 to 1977, they welcomed four children: one son and three daughters. Soon after marrying, Kenny moved to Martinsburg to work in banking and finance until his retirement in 2004., when he moved to Gassaway. Kenny enjoyed bluegrass music, old western movies and the TV show Seinfeld. He had a great sense of humor and was always entertaining others with his quick-witted jokes. Kenny was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed camping, boating, waterskiing, fishing, riding 4-wheelers and hunting.
Kenny is survived by wife, Linda Carol Bowles Given; his daughter, Beth Ann “Buffy” Given, her husband, Dustin Runion, and their children, Jonathan, Catherine, Braxton and Madigan Runion; his son, Kenneth Scott “Scotty” Given, Jr.; and his youngest daughter, Carey Sue Given, all of Martinsburg. He is also survived by his brother Keith Given of Smith Mountain Lake, VA; his sister, Virginia McEachron of Charleston, WV; and his lifelong best friend, Steve Martin of Leivasy, WV.
Kenny was preceded in death by his eldest daughter Lisa Marie Given.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 13660 Herald Rd., Strange Creek, WV 25063. Inurnment to follow at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.
