Obituary for Retta Jane Staubs (Bohrer)

Our sweet mother, Retta Jane Bohrer Staubs, 86, passed away quietly October 8, 2020.

She was the widow of Lewis William (Bud) Staubs Jr.

She was born in Neals Run, WV, one of five children born to the late Earl Robert Bohrer and Mamie Ethel Dellinger Bohrer.

She attended Hedgesville High School and was a 1966 graduate of WV College of Beauty Culture. Retta was a strong woman of faith and lived her life every day through our Lord Jesus Christ. She was a long-time member of Fellowship Church of the Brethren. She retired from Lucent Technologies in 1996, then worked part-time for Bon Ton. In 2018 she began her dream job of caring daily for her great grandbabies. Retta will be remembered for her kind and generous heart, never a harsh word, her loving manner warmed everyone she met and made her especially dear to those who knew her. She was devoted to God and her “babies”…her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a special gift of unconditional love and support and has always been the heart of our homes.

She is survived by her son, Lewis (Skip) Staubs, III and wife, Brenda of Martinsburg; a daughter, Diane Staubs of Charleston, D.C.; two grandchildren, Lewis Staubs, IV and wife, Julie, and Courtney Kackley and husband, David; four great grandchildren, Retta Jane Kackley, Lewis (Liam) Staubs, V, Samuel T. Staubs and Sutton Lee Kackley; a brother, Richard Bohrer and wife, Dixie of Selbyville, DE; two sisters in law, Pat Bohrer of Scherty, TX and Estelle Staubs of Martinsburg; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

Retta was preceded in death by her husband and parents; two brothers, Lewis Bohrer and Robert Bohrer; a sister Irene Slonaker; a brother-in-law, Clarence Slonaker; a sister-in-law, Rebecca Bohrer; three great nephews, Philip Linton, Johnney Aikens, and R.J. Kackley; and one great niece, Angela Artrip.
