Obituary for Richard Lee "Oz" Osborne

The family of Richard “Oz” Lee Osborne of Martinsburg is saddened to announce his passing on Monday, September 21, 2020 at the age of 63 years old at his home.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of eight years, Minnie Lee; children Essence Underwood and Elliyah Stadford; mother-in-law Marie McDowell, sister-in-laws Rena (Alvin) Arscott, Anita Inman, Gloria Jean Jones, brother-in-law Terry McDowell; close family friend, Derrick Monroe as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, John Osborne and Peggy O’Connell and father-in-law, Samuel McDowell, Jr.

Oz was born in Washington, D.C. He moved to Martinsburg in 2010. Oz worked for the Martinsburg Veterans Affair Medical Center in housekeeping and laundry as a laborer/park maintenance worker at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and as a postal worker in Washington, D.C. He was a diehard Washington Football fan, National, and pretty much anything associated with Washington, D.C. In addition, he was a fan of the Martinsburg football team and enjoyed attending the games with his veteran buddies. Oz was fond of his dogs Esahn and Leo. He looked forward to reading the Washington Post with his cup of coffee. Oz served in the United States Army and was proud to have served his country.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the VA Hospital and the Hospice of the Panhandle for their care and compassion.

A service with military honors will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home. The family will receive family and friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Visitors will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Haven, Howard Simms, John Thompson, Vincent Thompson, Gary Brown, Randy Rife, Donny Nevins, Ted Hughes, Willie Dawson, Todd Beck, Arnold Kirby and Anthony Stokes.

Interment will be at Culpeper National Cemetery.

Minnie i didn't kno him that well but the time i meet him he seemed like a really good man and here you talk about him he was A good man.I kno you are lost but just remember he is not suffering.rest in peace
