Shirley Ann Boomer, 89, of Martinsburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Meritus Medical Center.
Born April 24, 1931 in Weston, WV, she was the daughter of the late Hubert L. Smith and Nellie M. (Riffle) Smith.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and previous member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Clarksburg.
She was a graduate of the Bowling Green Business School.
She was a previous volunteer for Hospice, City Hospital Auxiliary, and former member of the Clarksburg League for Service.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Boomer and wife, Margaret, of Prairie Village, Kansas; daughter, Lisa Burnell, of Martinsburg; four grandchildren, Ross Boomer of Seattle, WA, Karen Clarke and husband Charles of Atlanta, Georgia, Eric Burnell and wife Amanda of Martinsburg, Emily Bernazzoli and husband, Matt, of Bakerton; and five great-grandchildren, Henry Clarke, Briar Burnell, Bailey Carrell, Adlyn Bernazzoli, and Myles Bernazzoli.
Shirley loved music, in the 1940’s she worked at GC Murphy’s record department. In the 1950’s she was a switch board operator at Hope Gas Company until she married John.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Boomer.
Services and interment will be in private in Bridgeport, WV.
